What is an affidavit
An affidavit is a written declaration made under oath; a written statement sworn to be true before someone legally authorized to administer an oath.
When clients visit the bureau asking for help with an affidavit:
1.If this is for a court case and the client is entitled to legal aid/assistance their appointed lawyer will arrange this for them at no cost
2.They can ask their lawyer to prepare this for them at a fee
3.They can prepare this themselves and sign in the presence of a commissioner for oaths who will charge them a fee (currently £3.50)
For taking an affidavit or declaration or an affirmation for each person making the same, the fee is £3.50.
And in addition thereto, for each exhibit therein referred to and required to be marked or for each Schedule required to be marked is 50p.
