European Forum of Citizens Advice Services

Gibraltar Citizens Advice Bureau  Manager Pili Rodriguez is in Brussels this week at the 6th European Forum of Citizens Advice Services on the exercise of European Citizenship rights.

This conference has been organized by European Citizens Advice Service (ECAS) and Citizens Advice International (CAI). The Director of (ECAS) is Tony Venables.

This forum has been financed by the European Commission and will bring about more than one hundred professionals in the field of information and legal advice for citizens. Topics which will be discussed include Information and Advice Services, Enforcement of European Law, EU Migrant rights and Social Policy response to the Credit Crunch.

The objectives of this forum is to enable the exchange of information and good practice, informal learning and networking of Citizens Advice professionals to benefit advice service users - citizens across Europe.

 It will also serve to explore communication with citizens, in particular making the voice of citizens heard through citizen’s advice social policy feedback based on client case evidence.

It also aims to highlight the valuable work of CAB service.

Pili Rodriguez is the Chairperson of Citizens Advice International (CAI) and will be giving a key note speech. She will be accompanied by Paul Peralta of the Legislation Support Unit (Govt of Gibraltar) and David Dumas, QC, Chairman of the Bar Council (Hassan’s Law Firm).

Paul Peralta and David Dumas will actively participate in the forum and will speak about Family Law in the EU, and Beyond Advice Specialism, they will also be chairing workshops.
The Venue for this forum is the European Parliament, Brussels.
