Gibraltar Chronicle 2nd June 2006
Our pensioners have taken eagerly to new technology. CAB (Citizens Advice Bureau) yesterday held more sessions on how to use a computer and learning about the Internet. Pili Roriguez, head of CAB, told the Chronicle that the last course was so oversubscribed they decided to hold another session for which they found there was again a high demand from Gibraltar’s senior citizens who are keen to learn the new technology. Two sessions were held yesterday both in the morning and afternoon. Both sessions were conducted by senior citizens themselves who have already mastered the technology.
Senior Citizens Corner
The GSCA is very pleased that the computer courses being run by the Department of Education for Senior Citizens are being very successful. The demand has been such that there are actually seven groups attending. Some of these students were encouraged by the “hands on” fun day organised by the Citizens Advice Bureau on computers. Another similar “hands on” experience is again being organised for next month and senior citizens wishing to attend are advised to call CAB, phone number 40006 at their earliest opportunity.
The physical activity sessions are once again being organised for seniors by the Gibraltar Sports and Leisure Authority. The sessions as on previous accessions include “exercise to music” Yoga, Tai Chi, Aqua Aerobics and so on. Letters have been sent to past participants informing them of dates and times. Any Senior who has not receives such a letter and wishing to take part in these activities is advised to phone Mr Victor Hermida on 79625.
