The replacing of old Panic Buttons by Gibtelecom with new and better technology is now well under way.

However, the Gibraltar Senior Citizens Association is shocked and dismayed to learn that in some cases, the units that Gibtelecom was supposed to replace have been thrown away without regard or concern that the alarm phones are under the guardianship of the association and not private property that can be disposed of.

The association has issued instructions that replacement is on a one for one basis. Where there is no emergency phone to replace, none is to be installed. As far as the association is concerned, the act of disposing of this life saving equipment signifies that this facility is not required.

Following representations received by Government from a number of pensioners, the GHA will be making the necessary legislative modifications which will entitle all persons aged 60 and over to free prescriptions, irrespective of whether they or their spouse are in employment and therefore contributing towards the Group Practice Medical Scheme.

The Government will be introducing a new bus service.

The new routes will be numbered from 1 to 5. Routes 1, 2, 3 and 4 will provide a free service for all passengers at all times. Routes 1 to 4 will cover all points in Gibraltar, except a journey to and from the frontier.

The first of this year IT Fun Day for seniors was held on 12th April 2011.  As usual it was well attended and turned into another successful fun day.  You can check out the photos in our gallery.

In preparation for the compilation of the 2011 Register of Electors, either of two electoral registration forms is being posted to every household in Gibraltar.

The forms must be completed and returned to the Electoral Registration Officer in the enclosed prepaid envelope within five days of receipt.

Gibraltar Gamblers Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from a gambling problem.

Gibraltar CAB hosted a stand at the local Careers Fair held at the Tercentenary Sports Hall on Tuesday 22nd of February 2011. The event was well attended and many students approached our desk where CAB reports and pens were available.

Updated housing waiting lists are now on display in the lobby of the City Hall.
